Our Community Vision
At First Presbyterian Church, we seek to be a community that is "A Place to Belong, Believe, and Love like Jesus." It is our hope that people of all ages and all walks of life will find a home in our Christ-centered congregation. Our guiding focus is to learn to love one another and our neighbors as Jesus did.
Trust in God
We place our trust in the triune God, present to us as God the Creator and Father, Jesus Christ the Son and Word, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus, fully human and fully divine, was sent by God to proclaim the reign of God by preaching good news to the poor and release to the captive, blessing the children, healing the sick, binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Through Jesus' death and resurrection, we are welcomed into a relationship with God. We believe that the Bible is the authoritative text for Christians because it points us to faith in Christ.
A Living Faith
We believe following Jesus is a life-long journey rather than a box to be checked or an unthinking agreement to dogma. We believe we are called to bring our full selves - our minds as well as our hearts - before God. We believe that Jesus is present with us today through the power of the Holy Spirit, and we are to be guided by his love in all we do. As Christians, we are called by God to participate in Christ's reconciling work in the world around us.
