Praying to Our Caring God As We Also Care for Others
2022 Winter Sermon Series: The Call to be a Courageous Christian
Questions for Reflection
- In Jesus’ Model Prayer, taught earlier in his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus has reminded us that already God knows all about our joys and struggles before we ever utter a single word in prayer. This leads one to wonder, “Why then should I spend time in prayer?” How does Jesus answer that question? Why do you pray?
- How does Jesus teach about God and encourage us to pray - using the example of caring parents? Â
- Today’s text ends with what many people call “the Golden Rule.” It’s an example of “the greater righteousness” to which Jesus calls us. How do you find Jesus’ command that we “do to others what we would have them do to us” more challenging than merely avoiding doing to others what we would not want them to do to us?
