Each Sunday morning we offer classes taught by engaging men and women on differing topics to engage and promote spiritual growth and contemplation.
Beginning January 6
Two New Adult Ed Classes
God Is Not One
9:00 a.m. in Room 113 This class is also offered on Tuesdays at 4:45 p.m. (starting January 8)
We are deeply affected by a variety of world religions today. In his book God is Not One, Stephen Prothero examines eight important world religions. Rather than make inaccurate generalizations, he honors the specificity of each religious tradition. The objective for this course is that participants to be able to summarize the basics of the world’s most important and influential religions and clarify differences and similarities between them. In addition to Stephen Prothero’s book, participants will be supplied with a detailed Study Guide for class discussions. This class is taught by Rev. Kent Webber.
Proverbs 10:30 a.m. in Room 113
Proverbs is the most practical book in the Bible. Even regarding philosophy of life–and there’s plenty of that–it has a practical edge. How do you live? How do you get along with people? What leads to trouble? What makes for success? What should you say? When should you keep quiet? How do you handle money? All these and many other subjects are considered. Proverbs can change the way you live. In this class - taught by Tim Stafford - we’ll learn how to dig into pithy Proverbs and extract deeper meaning. We’ll take up a subject each week and see how the variety of proverbs on that topic work together to shape our vision. Proverbs are fun, and sometimes funny. Come and enjoy!
