God’s Kingly Reign, Hebrew Kings, and Messianic Hope in Ancient Israel

The 7-week class is a study of kingship in the Old Testament. We’ll trace the theme of God’s reign as king, examine some of the kings of ancient Israel including David, Solomon, Ahab, Manasseh, Hezekiah, and Josiah. Finally we’ll explore the scriptural hope that God would raise up a new, ideal king like David of old, only better! We’ll also briefly explore the apocalyptic hope within the Old Testament, that God would intervene in human history, consummating God’s reign as king, bringing about a “new heaven and a new earth.”
