Our church has a tradition of presenting musical arts in worship and in concert. From local a cappella group,
The Tangents, to classical recording artists, Trio Celeste, and our own celebration of Christmas, The Singing Christmas Tree—music is central to our sense of celebration.
Join the 200 plus members and friends of our church who participate in a musical group at FPCSR! Many people in our congregation find meaningful connection to God and one another through musical expression.
The Chancel Choir learns and sings a variety of styles of music from traditional anthems to spirituals and contemporary music. Open to singers—high school students through adults—the Chancel Choir is a place to express yourself through music and make friends.
Chancel Handbell Choir
The Chancel Handbell Choir rehearses weekly. A full complement of handbell players is thirteen to fourteen—depending on the music being played. FPCSR has Malmark handbells and chimes: six octaves of handbells and five and a half octaves of hand chimes.
Children’s choir for boys and girls in grades 1 through 6. Under the direction of Ruth Batzel.
La Mer Quartet
La Mer is a quartet of musicians who have been practicing together since 2016. La Mer is: Norma Doyle on piano, Mary Kemnec on flute, Jocelyn McCord on percussion, and Gary Digman on bass. In April 2019, they’ll perform a free concert.
Worship teams help lead the music in worship and are made up of vocalists and instrumentalists—high school aged and up—by audition. If you play an instrument or sing, consider using those skills in worship.
