First Sunday of the New Year

2017 was a year of great tragedy and great joy, and we look forward to 2018 with both hope and trepidation.

In times such as these, it is important to remember that God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. It is to Jesus, the baby in the manger and the man on the cross who we turn to in the midst of our anxiety, on whom we place our hope.

On January 7, the first Sunday of the New Year, we will gather together as a community for a communion-centered worship service at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:30 a.m. On this first Sunday of the year, we remind ourselves to start first with Jesus, relying not on our own will power and new year’s resolutions to change us, but on the grace of Jesus and power of the Spirit to draw us closer to God and reshape us from the inside out.
