Transformational  Service  and  Relationships

The heart of our community service  is forming relationships with members of vulnerable populations in Sonoma County.  Through  partnerships with community service organizations we are able to come alongside, be of support,  and learn from people we would otherwise not meet.  In this way we hope to enact Jesus’ command to love our neighbors by reaching out beyond our comfort zone.

In a recent survey, nearly 1/3 of our congregation reported serving our community in some volunteer capacity.   Such involvement includes a wide range of services:  literary, visual and musical arts, convalescent support and senior care, food and hunger services, environmental and gardening, fundraising and financial services, health and medical care, housing and shelter support, legal and court services, school and education, social services, and youth leadership and development.

More than a desire to merely do good, we see our volunteer efforts as acts of transformational service and forming relationships in the name of Jesus.
